REVEL

(GOLDEN MEADOW EXTREME REVELRY)

Novice Trick Dog

One week old puppy being held

Revel is my newest pack addition. I waited two years for this amazing puppy, and he is everything I expected and then some. Revel is an Australian Koolie, bred by my friend at Golden Meadow Koolies. It is a common breed in Australia and it’s popular in Europe, but there aren’t too many in the US yet. They are bred to herd – cattle, goats, sheep, and other animals.

Revel was born January 3rd, 2024. I was fortunate to be there for the birth of the entire litter, and “co-parented” them – going over every day for a while to take care of them at mid-day. It has been so much fun to watch them grow – and they grow SO amazingly fast in the first few months. The puppies were raised with Early Neurological Stimulation and Early Scent Introduction. They were exposed to all kinds of people, animals, and environmental sounds, sights, and smells. So far he is pretty solid environmentally, and loves all people.

Revel’s four siblings went to wonderful homes. One will be a herding dog on a cattle/goat ranch, two will be agility dogs, and one will get to participate in several sports like dock diving, nose work, and maybe a bit of dancing. It was fun to work with all of them, starting at about 5 weeks, so they could learn some beginning foundation behaviors.

Revel (at the time I created this page) is only three months old, but he has already learned enough to earn his Novice Trick Title and one of the specialty titles from Do More With Your Dog. He is a little sponge, soaking up training as fast as he can. He has been a joy to live with so far, house training is going well, and he’s sleeping through the night in his crate with minimal complaints. He reads other dogs very well, playing with Onyx and Rainer, and leaving Pixie alone since she has little interest in playing.

Revel’s training journey is being incorporated as part of The Agility Playground, a monthly membership that focuses on agility and teaching distance handling, but includes all the foundational training, tricks, and conditioning. He will be starring in his own category of the membership called “Phenomenal Performance Puppy.”
